School-Based Services
As a part of the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network School Success Initiative, Hegira Health provides individual and family therapy and information and training for parents and teachers on behavioral and mental health topics in a school setting. Available in select districts.
What Do We Do?

Hegira Health offers a downriver summer camp program focusing on social and emotional learning. This camp includes hands-on learning and collaborative engagement with school-based therapists.

HHI Children's TIER Program
A mental health children's school-based program is a comprehensive framework that offers tiered levels of mental health support within a school setting. It includes universal mental wellness and prevention services, mental health screenings, social-emotional learning curricula, professional development for teachers, parent/caregiver workshops, positive discipline practices, and activities that foster a positive school climate. The program aims to address varying mental health needs of students, promote mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and provide early intervention to ensure the well-being and academic success of all students.
Referral Process to Support Students
Step 1: Child is identified and referred for screening Referral Process
Step 2: Eligibility screening via SDQ is conducted and determines intervention measures
Step 3: Children who score within TIER 1 can receive monitoring and care as usual
Step 4: Children who score within TIER 2 can receive prevention-based programming and resources
Step 5: Children who score within TIER 3 can receive a referral to a community mental health (CMH) provider
Children are screened by a licensed clinician using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ)
Based on the SDQ score child/youth is designated to Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3
Once Enrolled

Services are delivered virtually and face-to-face with students

Sessions are generally once per week ( 20 to 45 minutes) during school hours
Parental/legal guardian consent is required
